Shakshuka

A rich, savory dish of eggs poached in a spiced tomato and pepper sauce. This Middle Eastern classic is perfect for breakfast or dinner, with bold flavors and a satisfying, hearty texture that’s great with crusty bread.

Ingredient

2 eggs, 1 can diced tomatoes, 1/2 onion (chopped), 1 garlic clove (minced), 1 tsp cumin, salt, pepper, parsley (for garnish)

Method

    Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, and sauté for 3-4 minutes until soft.


    Stir in cumin, salt, and pepper. Add the diced tomatoes and simmer for 10 minutes.


    Make two wells in the tomato mixture and crack eggs into them. Cover and cook for 5-6 minutes, until the eggs are set. Garnish with parsley and serve.
